West De Pere School District buys new office building, charter school hub for $3.2M

The West De Pere School District is planning a move before this school year is done after purchasing a building to serve as its new district office and alternative programming hub for $3.2 million. 

The school district’s main office plans to move in April to the building at 1674 Eisenhower Road, said West De Pere Superintendent Jason Lau. It’s the former home of Keller Williams Realty, but the district plans to make minor renovations before the move.  

Currently, the district rents office space on Reid Street in De Pere. By ending the lease five years early, West De Pere will save an estimated $1.2 million in rent, Lau said. 

That $3.2 million figure is slightly higher than Green Bay estimated its district office would sell for, at $2.9 million. The West De Pere School District’s 2025-26 operational budget — which covers salaries, curriculum and other costs to help a student learn — is $52.9 million, and the district is currently running a $1.4 million general fund deficit.

Two schools currently housed at the district office, Phantom Knight Charter School and West Academy, will also move to the Eisenhower location in Lawrence. Phantom Knight is a project-based charter school for grades seven through 12, and West Academy is an alternative education program for students facing a credit deficiency.  

The district’s online staff directory lists 28 employees working out of the district office. Phantom Knight had 22 students in the 2024-25 school year; West Academy’s enrollment isn’t publicly available.
